June is a month full of celebrations. Of course, each Sunday we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ which is more than enough. But this month there is much more!
On June 1 we will celebrate Christian community at our annual church picnic at Braddock Bay following the 11 a.m. worship service.
June 8 is Pentecost. Pentecost is 50 days after Easter and the day we celebrate the Birth of the church and the gift of Holy Spirit. If you have it, wear red to worship that day.
On June 15 we will celebrate by thanking God for dads and grads. We will also celebrate confirmation of some of our youth at the 9:30 a.m. service as they make their public profession of faith in Jesus as Lord and savior and join the church.
On June 21 we will celebrate confirmation of the other youth who have been in the confirmation class for the past two years. We will also give thanks to God for those who teach and lead in the area of Christian Education.
On June 29 we will give thanks to God for, and celebrate the ministry of, Pastor Jerry Wolter. Since his retirement in 1997, Jerry has been on staff at Aldersgate as the Pastor of Visitation and Membership Care. During his 17 years here, he has been a blessing to many, including me! On June 30, he will re-retire. The good news is that while he will be cutting back, he and Helen will continue to be in ministry at Aldersgate. Jerry’s new role will be as Pastor Emeritus. He plans to continue to do some visiting and to preach occasionally.
June 29 will also be Jennifer Lee’s last Sunday as our choir director. We will also celebrate her ministry with us and wish her well as she returns to Toronto.
Come, join the celebration each Sunday!
With joy in Christ’s service,
Pastor Anne
