Choir Director Job Opening

Position Purpose: To provide leadership and direction to the Aldersgate UMC Chancel Choir, and thereby facilitate a high-quality choral music ministry for both the participating vocalists and the church membership.

Responsibilities: Subject to review and adjustment in conjunction with the Pastor, The Staff/Parish Committee, the Worship Committee, and the Church Council (when appropriate), the following constitute the major responsibilities of the Choir Director at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Working Conditions: The Choir Director requires flexibility in hours available for work, including evenings and weekends. The position is a part time, year around, salaried position.  The actual number of hours required during any given week are those which are needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. It is recognized that the schedule may vary at different times of the year.  

Qualifications:  The Choir Director plays an important role in the spiritual climate of the church, both as a leader and as an example.  Aldersgate UMC, therefore, seeks a person who has a solid understanding of the foundations of the Christian faith, United Methodist tradition (or a willingness to learn), and who has a strong desire to foster a spirit of enthusiasm for the music which enhances our Christian faith.  We seek a person who has the musical knowledge and ability to produce a high-quality choral program, generate new ideas and programs, and who values a team concept of ministry.
