As we welcome the beautiful month of October, I am filled with gratitude and a sense of reflection. The transition from summer to autumn often brings changes in our lives, and it’s an opportune time to reflect on our journey and the blessings we have received.

Recently, after Melissa and Joshua’s summer vacation, Joyce and I dropped them off at their dorm and came back home. Yes, it was a long trip. Whenever we did so, I found myself thinking as a father, “Will they do well this semester again? Will they be healthy without any health issues this semester?”

Probably, many of you had the same thoughts for your children as parents. However, I soon realized that God gave us a great tool even though we are not with them physically. That is, prayer. By prayer, we can ask our God to take care of them, protect them from all dangerous things, and guide them toward good ways. Above all, by prayer, we strongly believe that God keeps watching over them everywhere they are. What a blessed life!

Psalm 139:7-10 says, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”

As we move forward into October, let us make a conscious effort to incorporate prayer into our daily lives. Let us pray for our children, our families, our community, and the world. Let us also take time to express our gratitude for the blessings we have received and ask for God’s guidance as we navigate the path ahead.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.
