You are at the Top of God’s Priority List
I preached a sermon series on the Wonders of the Faith in September. The first sermon of the series was about the existence of God ‐ I wonder if God exists.
A new Pew Research survey finds that in 2018, 89 percent of Americans believe in God or a higher power or spiritual force (1). Another survey reveals that in 2004, 17.7 percent of the population attended a Christian church on any given weekend (2).
It clearly shows that God is not important in the reality of life for many people even though they have belief in God. The reason is that they believe their God is distant, far away beyond the universe, doing His things in secret far out there. So even though they believe in God, they don’t care about Him. And of course, they don’t go to church or go sporadically at their convenience.
“Believing in God this way is not good enough. Even the demons believe, and shudder.” (James 2:18‐19, Mark 1:21‐28)
So what is faith? This is what we find in the Bible about faith:
Faith is belief in God. However, it’s not simply that God exists, but that God is present with us and is working to our best in us.
You know that God made a covenant with Abraham, Jacob, Joshua and many others ‐ I will be with you and protect you wherever you go. I will NOT LEAVE YOU until I have done all that I have promised you.
God is not just up there. God is present in your life. God will NOT LEAVE YOU. God is very serious about you. God is very serious about His covenant with you. We must be serious about our God. We must be serious about our faith life.
We are all at the top of God’s priority list!
Let us have God and His church at the top of the priority list.
Let us put attending worship service, working on growing our faith and participating in ministries on the priority list.
There is no such thing as CONVENIENT CHRISTIANITY.
