Last week, my wife, Joyce, and I took a trip to Naples, in the Finger Lakes
area, for a day of grape picking. As many of you know, Naples is famous for its grapes, and we had a wonderful time in the vineyard, picking various types such as Concord, Niagara, and green grapes.

As we wandered through the vineyard, picking and enjoying the grapes —especially the Concord, which I discovered I love more than any other —
I came across a scene that took my breath away. A large, beautiful bunch of grapes was hanging from the vine, perfectly attached. It was a simple yet amazing sight, and in that moment, a biblical message came powerfully to my mind.

I was reminded of Jesus’ words in John 15:5, where He said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

This verse came alive to me like never before. As I looked at that bunch of grapes firmly connected to the vine, I truly understood what Jesus meant. Just as those grapes cannot grow and thrive without being connected to the vine, we cannot bear spiritual fruit without remaining connected to Jesus. It’s not about our hard work, efforts, or passion alone; it’s about being rooted in Christ. Only when we are connected to Him can we bear the fruit of His
Spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, and self-control.

This experience reminded me of the importance of our constant connection with Jesus in our faith journey. As we move through this season, may we focus on staying close to Him, allowing His life-giving Spirit to flow through us and bear good fruit.

Blessings to you all as we continue to grow together in Christ.
