I am writing my pastoral letter for March in my church office — without a working heating system — at the end of February. I’m not sure what happened, but I assume it may be due to the heavy snow or cold weather.
Honestly, I had never imagined being in the church office without heat. I always took a warm office in the cold winter for granted. But now, sitting in the cold, I realize how often I forget to be thankful for things like a functioning heating system.
We often take simple, everyday blessings for granted.
· Have you ever been grateful when you start your car on a freezing
morning?
· Have you ever thanked God when you open your refrigerator and find fresh food inside?
· Have you ever appreciated how your garbage is picked up every week without delay?
There are so many small things we overlook — things we don’t express gratitude for, even though they bless our daily lives.
But when we change our attitude and choose to be thankful for everything, even the smallest things, our hearts will be filled with joy, gratitude, and thanksgiving.
One day, I read an article where the writer strongly recommended writing down five small things to thank God for each day in a journal. He promised that this simple habit would dramatically change our lives — day in and day out.
As we enter March, let’s remember the words of the psalmist in Psalm 107:1:
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
His love endures forever.”
May we live each day with a thankful heart,
Pastor Yohang
