Waiting for Spring, Waiting for Easter

In the middle of March, the weather suddenly became warm. I was happy, thinking maybe spring had already come to Rochester. But after two days, the cold came back, and I had to wear my thick jacket again. Some church members reminded me where we are. “Pastor, we live in Central New York… Believe it or not, it can even snow here on Mother’s Day.”

Of course, I know this already. But still, my heart really wants winter to pass quickly and spring to come soon.

This made me think about my journey through Lent. Am I waiting for Easter like I wait for spring? I asked myself, “Do I just want to enjoy the joy of resurrection without going through Lent, Holy Week, and especially Good Friday?”

Again, I remember the connection between Lent and Easter — No Cross,
No Resurrection.

In our lives, we also need to understand and accept this process. If we are going through a hard time, we should not only focus on our struggles and feel discouraged. Instead, we must look ahead, believing that something good will come after this difficult journey. In life, we cannot always get what we want. Sometimes, we face challenges and hardships. As disciples of Jesus, I hope we all remember that after Lent and Good Friday, resurrection will come.

Blessings,
Pastor Yohang Chun
