We’ve finally had a few warm days and my daffodils are blooming — spring has arrived. Most are ready to get outside — perhaps to play a sport, take a walk, or work in the yard or garden. I like to be outside as much as I can, even if it’s just sitting on a chair with a good book. God has made a beautiful world for us to enjoy.

May is a busy month at Aldersgate, so I hope you’ll find time to participate in some of the opportunities that are offered in addition to our weekly worship services. I especially hope you’ll join Tom and me for one of the “Live to Give: Count Me In” gatherings at the parsonage. It will be fun to visit with you in a more relaxed atmosphere and share dessert together. You will also get a chance to see how much more grey hair I have today than 10 years ago. If the scheduled times don’t work for you, let me know and we’ll try to schedule a time that works. I am counting on God and you to make our building fund campaign a success. I pray that you will participate in the various events and give as God leads you.

As you may be aware, Aldersgate is looking for three new staff people. Vickie Souve, who has lead the Contemporary Worship Team the past two years, will be stepping down as worship leader but will continue to be on the team. David Rogenmoser has a new job that provides better benefits, but does not allow him to continue as choir director. He has retired after 24 years but assures me we will see him when his work schedule allows. Derek Hansen is graduating from seminary and will be commissioned at Annual Conference. He has been appointed to serve as pastor of Hudson Falls beginning July 1. His last Sunday with us will be June 16. We will miss the leadership of all of these people. Please keep them in prayer as they transition and keep our church in prayer as we search for their replacements. Pray that God sends the right people to us.

In January we held our Mission Possible event. Since then Mary Simm and a team of people have been working to start a monthly community dinner. They need a couple people to be trained and certified “food safe” before more can be done. Is God calling you to this ministry? If so, talk with Mary or me. We have also reached out to the AA groups with a letter inviting them to join us for this past Holy Week and Easter worship. We will continue to look for ways to invite those who use our building and don’t have a church home to join us.

May 2 is the national day of prayer. There will be services at the Greece Town Hall at noon and at the Greece Assembly of God church at 7 pm. Join us on Saturday, May 4 from 9-noon (or any part of that time that you can) for a morning of work to help improve and maintain Aldersgate’s building and grounds. May 5 is the annual CROP Hunger Walk — walk, sponsor a walker, and/or help at our water stop. See me or Joyce Farrokh to get involved. May 11 is the Mother-daughter banquet. Derek Hansen will be preaching on May 12th. May 19 is Pentecost and Commitment Sunday. Our District Superintendent, Ted Anderson, will be bringing the message that morning. Don’t forget to wear red to church that Sunday! I’m sure I left some things out,

so be sure to read the rest of this newsletter.

Happy spring! God’s blessings,
